GILGIT: Vote count is in progress after the polling held for LA-19 the Gilgit-Baltistan constituency of Ghazar.

The polling for the slot was postponed following the demise of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)?s candidate Sher Bahadur.

Forty-six polling stations were set up in Ghazar where troops and police were deployed at 12 constituencies declared sensitive. This helped avoid a major untoward incident.

The total number of voters in the constituency stood at 27,817.

The candidates running for the slot are: Pakistan People?s Party?s Pir Saeed Karam Ali Shah, Pakistan Muslim League-Q?s Syed Jalaluddin, independent Col. (Retd.) Karim Ahmed Shah, and nationalist party Balawarstan National Front?s Nawaz Khan Naji.

MQM?s candidate has withdrawn in support of the independent candidate Col. (Retd.) Karim Ahmed Shah.
