KARACHI: A cloth godown situated in Landhi?s Export Processing Zone caught fire, where cloths and shoes worth millions of rupees were gutted down, Geo News reported Wednesday.

The fire could not be brought under control after the lapse of even over five hours.

According to fire brigade officials, the fire erupted suddenly in the Landhi Export Processing Zone at 2am, which engulfed the entire building within no time.

Initially three fire tenders were tasked; however, more fire tenders had to be summoned as the fire assumed more intensity. The fire fighters are facing problems owing to the shortage of water and strong wind.

Chief Fire Officer Ihtishamud Din said at least two snorkels, four water bowsers and 23 fire tenders are participating in the fire fighting

He held the fire as third-stage blaze.
